First B/W roll on the Smena 8M

This was my first time shooting B/W (ever). Smena 8M + Agfa APX 100. I really really liked the results. There was a lot of contrast/vividness (except when underexposed--then the contrast wont really be there) plus vignetting was really intense in some shots. Made me a very happy happy person. 8)

Lovely photos, blows the leicas away

Thanks :) I'm so glad I got the Smena instead of the holga (i wanted to get a holga at first but then someone told me about the smena and it's so much better!)

Wow what a stunner! I've got one of these sitting in my cabinet not knowing that it can produce such fantastic result. But you must be good at judging apperture size and shutter speed to get the correct exposure. Did you had many failures before this? Are the results unpredictable?

Usually I put my aperture to its maximum and just try to roughly estimate the shutter speed depending on the available light. I've been using the manual mode on my DSLR for a while now--after a bit you'll figure out more or less the shutter speed needed. The only thing that bothers me whenever I take photos with this camera is the focus length. It's taken me a while to estimate the distance between the camera and the subjects. There's also the problem of the parallax error. The viewfinder is (sort of) pointless being so far away from the actual lens and all that. So yeah, there's a lot of estimation here and there.

Before this roll I think I took about 6 rolls of 3 different types of film.

Thanks, btw :)

Nice shots. Smena 8M has always a place in my heart.
