Ok , i prefer Final Cut Pro , but if u try latest pinnacle than u compare the product.
I would advise that you buy & learn final cut pro over premiere.
Reason being that once u're competent with it, it will open you up to be working in the fields of broadcast facilities & post production houses.
With premiere, sadly, i must say that it will probably limit your options of being an editor to the wedding video market/corporate market.

Definitely Final Cut Pro. This is industrial standard now, like Avid software for the highend video editing facilities. And not to mention that it is easy to use and have a lot of support as the user base is really large now. You can find a lot of support online.
FCP in my opinion is still the champion.
Premiere , on the other hand, is like some other bros here said, capped only with its capability to handle simple corporates and wedding videos.
Other than that, its FCP or Avid (if you have the budget to have a simple Lanshare for the office or if you really really wanna splurge, the new isis from avid)
Cost effectiveness (Depending on ur usage) plays a big part, but deciding on any NLE would have to be determined also by your choice of camera, recording format and post production workflow. (ingest - edit - output)
IMHO!
Will wait for next year , new os is coming out . Leopard is coming to town.:devil:video editting, imac is good, but macpro is better!
well bro, im running FCP 5.1 on a old iMac G5, with 2 gb Ram . sluggish no doubt, but handles just nice when im cutting my reel or just doing a simple conversion.
it should work just fine! besides, the DVX 102B is really a solid camera and worth its value!
But if you really want blazing speed, then i suggest the Macpros or the Old PowerMacs G5s.
Depends on your budget, for the Powermacs, u must ask around.
I've done lots of Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Disney & Mediacorp programs all with FCP, from offline cuts to online cuts, to color grading, audio mixing, & final transmission mastering......there's definitely no doubt about FCP other than a few little bugs here and there.
Speaking of Avid, it cost a lot of money & tech support sucks! I bought my Avid system a few year back and I'll never think twice about going back to Avid!
No doubt editing functions of Avid (Mediacomposer, Symphony, Xpress family) is quite superior, but if you're paying lots of money for it and tech support sucks, then I'd rather settle for a cheaper alternative and find workarounds for my post-production solutions.
:thumbsd:
is there a DxnHD220 or 145??? I am confused...there someone using similar nicks in the forum?
hi all,
if u want to setup a FCP suite, i have a fren who's doing system setup and integrations for FCP.. maybe i can help check with him if u want.
And if you need to rent facility on FCP, we have FCP facility.
well, if want training.. maybe I can work out something and engage someone (people like DXNMedia? or some other contact i may have) who's able to teach and use our facility.. but i have to say we need to charge, but maybe spacial rate.. (sorry.. we have a biz to run). Anyway no firm yet, let me discuss with my partner first.. probably not so soon as i am very busy with some setup this few weeks tat hopefully will benefit peoples here too.

Totally agree with DXN -(heehee. so which are you DxnHD220 or 145) on the should i say ease of use of FCP weighed with cost and practicality.
But one thing that FCP cant handle is BWF formats. strange but avid seems to just suck this in very well. but then, 125k for a proper avid system, we SHOULD EXPECT it to take in anything. heehee.
