Hello all, many thanks for the help on the NTSC vs PAL answers. I finally got the PAL version of the consumer Panasonic HDC-SD1 and it performed well for my needs, portable and good low light performance. The AVHCD thing is something I am figuring out later.

My main question, what filters are worth getting for a camcorder? I was on top of the Eiffel tower on a cloudy day last week, noticed that the sensor was unable to pick out details closer to the horizon. I am thinking that it has something to do with the dynamic range of the sensor. So I thought that a filter could have helped, but I don't know how true this assumption is.

If filters will help, what types of filters should I be getting? I am thinking of a UV filter and maybe even a ND filter (don't know which is good). I am not sure if a linear/circular (which one?) polariser is even helpful.

Polerizer, ND Grads NOT the screw in type and a classic soft.
