Hi all. Starting film photography. Anyone knows where I can scan my negatives and the cost of it?

Thanks so much for the recommendation. That thread seems a bit messy. Anyway thanks for the scanner recommendation, but looking to scan 120mm

I've recently used fotohub for some other services (not scanning), but noticed that they do offer:

For quality scans, visit the list of places as mention above

If you don't need very hi-res quality scans, you can find this S$69.90 scanner at Challenger Funan Mall
Kaiser Baas - PhotoMaker - Convert 35mm negative & slides

Ah should have visited this thread much earlier.
Didn't know there was a much more affordable 35mm scanner...

I got a Canon (CanoScan 9000F) from the Canon PPP for about $220 bucks.
Scans 35mm and 120mm formats. They have different frame holders for the different formats.

If you are scanning a lot. It makes sense to buy your own scanner and DIY at home.
Say for example you shot 5 rolls of 120 format film of 6cm x 6cm negatives/slides.
That is 60 negatives/slides to scan.

At the quoted price of $21.40 per 6cm x 6cm, the cost of scanning 5 rolls of 120 film is $21.40 x 60 = $1,284.

You can buy this for USD$949 which is cheaper than SGD$1,284.

Maximum Resolution: 12,800 x 12,800 dpi.

It can scan:
Transparency Size: 8" x 10"

Supported Film Size:

35 mm mounted slides (12 frames)
35 mm film strips (24 frames)
Medium format strips 2 1/4", 120 / 220, 6 x 20 cm (2 – 6 frames)
4" x 5" film (2 frames)
8" x 10" film area guide

Note:
• you own the scanner that you bought and can use it for many years.
• no hassle travelling many times to and fro the commercial scanning vendor. Transport cost is a factor.
• the staff at the commercial scanning vendor may not be able to redo scans until perfect for you. He has to achieve throughput productivity or else his boss will be unhappy. Commercial interests dictate and a poorly done scan will do - the novice customer would not know the difference anyway.
• you can take your time to redo scans at home on your own scanner - to your satisfaction.
• the commercial scanning vendor is going to get rich servicing customers who ask him to do scanning.
