$200 is not very expensive compared to the others in the market.. in fact, it is already on the lower end of the scale

If its like the Yashica, it isn't worth more than $30. You'll get much better results duplication the negs with a DSLR if you have one. Otherwise just the an Epson or Canoscan

If you are doing this, be very picky with your scanner, a slight difference in quality and even software will alter your output...this I know as I'm going thru the experience right now

I got this scanner from Sim Lim square @$195 around 2 months back.
Overall, its quite decent, and is consider cheap of its calibre.
+ points - small, light, cheap, can scan with film roll, slides and adapter.
- points - requires imaging program to despeck, colour tone etc (especially for night shots).

I had a similar scanner to this, a cheaper model which looks exactly like the one you mentioned. Basically it's a 5mp (actually advertised as 10mp but just doubled pixels not real scan) with a light source in the back. The light source was horrible, unevenly lit. Brighter in the middle and some vignetting in the corners.

Advantage is that it's really really fast, just press the button and scan (or snapshot?) is done. Can scan a roll of 36exp in 3 mins! Otherwise sharpness, colour was quite poor compared to Canonscan 9000f and Plustek 7600.

I googled a scanner and your seems to have 14mp, so not sure how comparable this is. Anyway I was very happy to upgrade, it only lasted 2 months with me.

hmm... i remember years ago, Konica used to manufacture a compact film scanner similar to the Plustek. i had one before when i bought it 2nd-hand from another CSer to scan my wedding and honeymoon pics... sold it off which i kinda regret it now. are there similar compact size film scanner which is affordable? i actually like the size of this scanner that TS asked. but now with the comments on the quality of scans....
