Film or lens?

Hi guys. For colour pictures through film, what do you all think is more important? The lens or the film?

They both play a part. It's like asking what is more important when painting? The brush or the paint?

I would say, the photographer...

If the photographer did not choose good lighting and angle, even with the best lens and film, it will turn out like "sh*t"

If the photographer understands light and have an artistic eye, with any crabby lens and film, it will turn out like "go*d"

agree with chiif.. but i don't agree with the crabby lens and film.. if the lens and film are crabby, the photographer will get pinched when he held the camera next to his face.. hehe, joking, lah..

anyway, the film is the paint and the lens is the brush.. so you want vivid color/more neutral color? just like when the painter choose his/her paint.. and whether he/she wants big strokes/small strokes, that depends on the brush, just like lenses that offer different characteristics..

Thks guys for ur views. I just thought technology allows easier colour manipulation now. Hence it's could be not so important as lens?

I wonder how is colour processed in the past or are they processed? Should read up

If choose between the two I would choose the film. Like the painting analogy the master painter can use his fingers to paint. Like photography the camera can be lens-less like the pinhole camera.
