I came across this interesting video on the differences between film and digital capture.

Most interesting to me was the claim that at high altitudes (planes), gamma rays can fry individual digital pixels (and entire rows of pixels). I had never heard of this before, and I don't think I have ever noticed it personally either. It could be that camera companies fix this in software, or the problem is bogus or too rare to cause trouble.

Well, deep UV rays do degrade pixels over time, gamma rays are kinda a given since they are incredibly energetic.
