definitely

sianz ..like that then should enable some security feature for quoting otherwise those argue-argue threads can contain a lot of misleading quotes

Very easily done thus it is all about trust at the end of the day. I have ever been given e-quotes and I have printed it out, brought it to the store and they did give me the item at the price they quoted. They also I am sure have a record of the email they send you.

No point...
If the quote is fake, the original MSG is still real...

I am certainly not an authority in this. Take this with a pinch of salt.

I used to write quite a lot of scientific papers. In such papers, quotations from other sources are often used to support/refute points. It is obviously impossible to quote an entire article. So quotes are often edited. But the way one edits the quote must not depart from the essence of the original thoughts.

An example: "John Smith" may write "If you try to kill my children, I will not hesitate to kill you in order to protect my children".

But some may just quote in part "John Smith said ...... I will not hesitate to kill you"

This is an obvious depart from the original intent, which makes it malicious.
