I have seen threads selling so-called 'export sets' in clubsnap. Please excuse my ignorance, are these sets any different from the local retail sets, apart from the warranty?
Are these sets safe to buy?

Thanks

They are the same. Just that they are parallel imported.

Some stuff might be different, like user manual might be in a different language. Power adapter may have a different plug.

obviously they will be cheaper considerably. But my advice is don't buy if u can. And if u buy, do check very very thoroughly. For example, there r shops in HK who passes of refurnished units as 'brand new parallel import' units.

Manual and power adapters being diff are minor issues but if the unit fails n u need repair services, u might run into issues.

For example, Panasonic SG charges extra for repair jobs if u send in a parallel import unit. Heard its 1.5times but this is what I heard.

what brand r u looking at? Check out the brand's policies with handling such sets. Though camera sets generally don't fail, but its simply your own onus if u get a parallel import one and it fails.

I am looking at an 'export set' of Canon eos 6d in Spore.

Get it you like the price. If you need any servicing the Canon Service Center will accept it and treat it as 'no warranty anymore' (= pay for everything that needs to be done). That's all.
I don't know where the word 'safe' comes in here .. Unless you really assume that export sets are those sets that failed QC (and therefore being exported to the rest of the world) :bsmilie:

Anyone bought stuff from valuebasket.com before? Any experience to share? Their prices are extremely competitive but concern that the warranty is "in-house" warranty.
See this eg. Canon EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens - Canon Cameras - DSLR Cameras - Digital Cameras | ValueBasket SG
Thank you for not crashing into other people's threads.
Please use the search function or check consumers corner for any reviews of online shops or local shops. With regards to warranty please contact the shop directly.

Are grey sets (in Spore) different from export sets?

Both terms point to the same type of product. Other terms used: parallel import, shop warranty, no local warranty ...
