An Event company looking for photographer here ...... at $70 + lunch for day 1 and $40 + lunch for day 2?

Let see ..... for Day 1 it starts at 1pm .... you should come after your lunch......

For day 2, it stops at 12pm.... chances are you would not stay for lunch ......

I guess it is true that CS has indeed become a source for ..... you know what .....

Well, you're entitled to your opinions. ;)

Yeah pay might not appeal to you but it might appeal to others. There may be photographers here who are fairly new and they're looking for opportunities to shoot events and build up their confidence.

I have worked for this company before and they do pay me better and better. They treat people well too, that's what I can say.

You can't expect threads here to always be of the pricing you want. Companies/people have their own budgets too. :)

Yes indeed this offer is highly suited for newbies and beginners who have no experience who wish to try out their new cams. It's paid practice after all. Experienced photographers can look the other way.

I shld say this is good for all the newbies/novice. I always encourage my student photographers to cover events.

However friend, the photos taken will be a 'shock of your life' probably you'll see handshakes, OOF shots and so on. Hopefully at this price, they don't have to do Post processing.;p

$5 per hour is like work at macdonalds.

wats the world coming to..

they will provide D2xs and 1Ds MKII (lens from super wide to super tele)

10 course Lunch from Ah Yat Abalone Resturant

it might be just polaroids and P&S lah...

If your photos are good you get to keep the cam you chosed

We live in an environment where art is sold at a dime a pound. You want to stop all these nonsense, then we have to stop responding to them. Takes 2 hands to clap. Giving newbies a chance to practice has, unfortunately became a convenient excuse to ask for cheap labour, as with other line of work. You can ignore them if you find that distasteful but its here to stay, like it or not. To those looking for cheap photographers, just remember.... you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

No matter how newbie or enthusiastic, i don't think anyone here is worth just $5 per hour.

You'd be surprised some pple here are even willing to do it for free. Paying them $5 per hour is already like flattering them - their self worth.

Sentence 1:
For a good cause, i'd even do it for free. Of course, I love shooting because i enjoy doing it.

Sentence 2:
I'm not so sure about the flattery part, especially if you're talking one's self-worth.

2 years back, I would have taken this kinda jobs for experience. Let newbies have a chance to shoot such events, you dunno how hard it was for me then to convince companies to let me shoot events for them for free/small price.

nowadays, the market has really opened up. there are more learning opportunities for everyone.

to the threadstarter, the photos u receive might be very bad, so please be prepared. haha
