If you have the cash, would you buy a EF-S17-55f2.8 vs getting a EF17-40 and a 50mm f1.4  The 17-40 is not good enough for general indoor w/o flash :dunno:

Nobody give me advice huh :dunno: Was thinking to give up my 17-40 for 17-55 or just get a 50mm 1.4 :embrass:

17-55 dosent seem to be a bad choice if you do lots of indoors without flash....

Like one reviewer said, a 17-55 is an investment into EF-S only bodies so upgrading to FF will be a problem. Especially considering you already have a 17-40

Yes, thanks! I have considered these else I won't get a 17-40 initially... too bad 17-55 is not L. The closest is 24-70 f2.8 which is not wide enough on a 30D and I don't intend to get 10-22. 17mm seems sufficient for my daily use :bsmilie:

The 50mm f1.4 is a good to have. Esp when you do indoor low light, f1.4 can really save the day. Sometimes f2.8 is not that bright enough even at iso1600. The good thing abt 17-55 is the range in my opnion and there is no need to change lens.
