E-M5 Sensor is made by SONY !

If this president is same as previous one, hard to believe lol. I do believe though from sensor performance that is.

Lol.. Know what you mean. This is the new President after the recent shareholders meeting. No scandal tainted president...

Actually I think the NEX 5N 16 mp sensor produce better image than NEX7 24mp sensor. Since both of them are APS-C sensor, could it be that Sony use NEX7 APS-C sensor and downsize it to m4/3 which is cropped to 16mp? So essentially NEX7 and EM5 shares the same sensor? Just wondering.

But Oly's tweaking of colour using its tru-pic V processor, with Sony sensor is really a marriage made in heaven.

It could just be that APS-C sensors past 18 MP are a bad idea at the moment, although by memory, the 24 MP APS-C seems a similar density to Four-Thirds at 16 MP.

Oh great. Olympus probably bought a tonne of these sensors just to keep the prices down and we are definitely going to see the same sensor for the next 3 generations of M43 cameras and I'd lose interest in the system again.

Never mind that the sensor doesn't seem to be substantially better than the Ricoh GXR's 12MP APS-C sensor, with the noise profile extremely similar. Yes, the latter is an APS-C sensor, but you can figure that it took several years for the performance to catch up.

I'm not sure if the sensor is a smaller cut version of the 24MP Sony one. The M43 sensor is about half the area of a APS-C sensor if I recall.

M4/3 sensor is approx 60% of an APS-C sensor

Well, 60% of 24 would be 14.4. That is quite a bit off the 16MP.

My guess is that its using tech from the SONY 24 mpx sensor, but not just by resizing. I guess the size of the photosites may be different as well. Wont know until someone who is more tech savvy actually reviews the sensor.. Maybe DXO will speed up and release their findings ; )
