i have a question for any Oly experts out there. Is there any difference in terms of the Liveview for the soon to be released E-410/510 and the older E-330? I know the E-330 has 2 Liveview modes, one which allows auto-focussing and another where the mirror is locked in position and only can do manual focussing.
Will the new E-410/510 allow auto-focussing in the Liveview mode? I'm planning to get the E-330 for underwater use so being able to use auto-focus in Liveview mode is rather important to me. Thanks in advance. :)

The upcoming model is live view B mode-mirror lift up,flip down to af then expourse.

Mirror down, AF, mirror up.

That's one of the reason why I still like the E-330 over the 2 new cameras. Only thing short in the E-330 is the IS. So Olympus just need to add that to the cam.

You can AF in Mode B with the E-330. You need to dedicate the user button for that when operating in Mode B.

How fast? F1? With my limited skills, I could not get panning done with the live view and also it was too bright to use Liveview. Not sure if other E-330 users were using LV for that.

oops..mode A only. Mode B is not possible as the mirror down/up takes time.

How good is Live View at capturing fast moving subject?

How fast is fast?

If you talking about a dragonfly in flight, then use the viewfinder.

For one-off shots, I guess Live-View A is OK. But when it's on, your burst mode is reduced from 3fps to a slow 1fps for some reason.

Live-View B has a long lag time due to the mirror lift that makes using it for live action shots difficult.

Yes. But Me very happy with the LV mode A when I am shooting non fast moving objects and fantastic for panoramas.

P1 looks real fugly.

Olympus Malaysia E-410 & E-510 Media Launch
with preview of the E-3

Hmm... P-1, more than 3 AF points and a bold claim that the noise level will be comparable to EOS (sic).

Bold is not the right word to use if I may say. I dare say that it will be on par with or may be better than any of the EOS system. I say so until after I had my hands on E410. The image quality is nothing but one word, IMPRESSIVE! This is only an entry level Oly dSLR. Can't image what it will be for a flagship Oly dSLR, the E1 replacement.

The E-3/P-1 is no longer shown on that page...the images have been replaced by 1x1 pixel blanks...that probably means that they were just early mockups and may not be the final design. Anyone (else) remember how the mockup Olydak and the E-1 were so different?

FYI E-410 stock is in at Cathay Photo today..........;p

A number of E-410 showed up at MS Color too. Just tested one. Its TINY, with the 14-42 kit lense its size is almost like the Panasonic FZ-50.

+ No sign of interference noise patterns at ISO400-800 so far.

+ Images are very clean, noise level is very low.

+ ORF raw files are smaller now thanks to compression...

- ...too bad ACR and Lightroom doesn't read them (yet).

- Its too tiny for me, I'll wait for the 510 (heard they'll be in 2nd week of May).

Au contrar, it may be small, but very nicely balanced.

in fact it's about the same size as my FZ-5.
