Hi,

Hunting for a new camera, which is good, Dynax5 or Eos 300?
Can anyone tell me the avantages of both camera, so that i can have a better view on which slr to go for!

Thanks

Having use both, I will say that Dynax 5 have slightly more features than eos 300.

Those that are useful to me:-

1) max shutter speed is higher (1/4000s)
2) spot metering
3) more compact than eos 300
4) can use wireless flash with minolta external flash like 3600hs / 5600hs WITHOUT getting any additional accessory.

Are you new to SLR? if so, BOTH are good enough to pick up the neccessary basic skills.

I'm selling my Dynax 5 in this buy and sell thread

Why am I selling? well got another SLR where the viewfinder is brighter than the above 2 at a very good price.

Dynax 5 definitely. It has more features at a lower price. U can buy 2nd hand...... it's much cheaper compared to new. And it is much cheaper compared to 2nd hand EOS300s. The Minolta has a much better metering and flash system since the same system is used on the pro bodies as well whereas the EOS300 gets hand me downs.....

I have used the Dynax 5 and am very happy with everything about it. It has everything I need except for rear synch flash, the flash chord connection(dunno what is it called) and is a little too small for my slightly larger than average hands. Exposure system is fantastic, this I gotta say.

remote flash cord.

I have used both cameras. The EOS 300 has a focusing problem. First it is very difficult to set a default focusing point, for eg in the centre. Secondly the selected focusing point does not light up red, like the minolta's. So visibility is somewhat poor.

On hindsight both cameras don't focus very well in low light. Hunting is common.Dynax 5 has problem focusing on shades of grey and black. I am not using any external flash, so not sure if this problem can be rectified by using a larger flash.

A flash will help as it has a IR illuminator. It helps to paint the picture with IR and gives contrast to netural colours so that the camera can focus properly and quickly.
