Hello minoltians,

The future Dynax 5 kit lens has been change to AF 28-100(D) f3.5-5.6

This is definitely a good news for all new buyers.

It will be better if it's 3.5-4.5 :D

my jaw will drop if it is 24-135 f2.8 :blah:

Is there a way to trade in the rubbish 28-80mm kit lense that came with it before? It really is a huge disappointment to me.

The crappy kit lens that came with my 505si and also the Dynax 5 has virtually no value in the market. I did ask Alex Photo and TCW before.... they were not even willing to take it for $50...... hahaha........ I was asking for a trade in for a Tamron 24-135SP f/3.5-5.6 a year back........ no such luck dudes!

Anyway let's see the quality of this 28-100mm lens first........ looks like something aimed squarely at the 28-90mm that accompanies the CanonEOS300, which is also a crappy lens...... any comments Andy...... might be visiting u tomorrow.... want to try the 100-300 and 100-400 at the SVC centre......

Ha ha,welcome to my humble abode. Btw, the showroom only have 100-300 at the moment. :embrass: show you some shots from 28-80(D) lens and 75-300 (D).but not shot by me lah. colours very saturated ....

The only reason why I'm interested in the 100-300 is the weight factor. It's half the weight of the 100-400....... and that's quite a bit when travelling........

As for the D lens....... I can't make use of them cos I dun have the 5600HS flash at the moment....... that's a buy that can wait since I have the 3500xi as the moment........... Anyway the shots are saturated cos it's on slide or negatives? I shoot exclusively on negatives... no money to start with slides......

Yes, I have got quite good saturation from the lense, but it seems quite rare as compared to the other lenses that I tried. And many a times it does not seem sharp. Could be the photolab inconsistancy, but somehow I feel its doubtful as I have much higher percentage of satisfying shots with my other lense. Maybe the lense is too light weight and small too, coz I have quite large hands, so handling is a bit of a problem.

What "f" are you using? From what I see,kit lens need to stop down at least 2 stops of aperture. are you using the battery pack?it will add some weight and the balance may be just right.and most of all, your wrist need not bent so much.eg..left hand supporting the base of your camera, then you tuck in your elbows, eye viewing into viewfinder=awarkard position.left hand bend so much that you shake your camera.

Haha! For a moment I thought u were saying "What the "f" are you using?"!!! Yeah, you are right that the kit lense has to be f8 and above. Below the aperture value and the pics turn so soft. The kit lense has nice bokeh though. Just that contrast with that lense is quite weak. I wanted to sell it since I got my 24-105mm but I guess I will be making a huge lose, so I think I'll keep it when I want to shot in snap shot mood and travel light in rough and tumble mood. Do not have a battery pack, dun intent to get one, might as well save up to get Dynax 7 equivalents or above. And yes, I believe I know the basics of holding a camera.

If only at f/8 and above the shots turn out sharp, then what can u really do with the lens??? Which also means that the lens is practically useless in low light conditions cos even with flash and at f/8, u can't hand hold the camera! And maybe that's why my own 505si kit lens always gives me shots which seem a little off focus even tho' the meter on the camera indicates that the lens is in focus......... but I dun have this problem with the tamron or sigma lens that I use now lar...... thankfully even tho' they are just consumer lens.........
