Did you have to pay for it? I would rather clean it myself since I get it done immediately and the camera is not away for 3 days... but to each his own I guess...

Still under warranty. So i check in my DSLR once in a while for cleaning. my hotshoe is always tarnish. anyone know how to protect it?

One suggestion is to get a special static brush at cathay photo. plus a magnifying glass with lights). i had this problem when i do my macro stuffs and the spots get magnified when i use reversed lens macro.

anyway i didnt buy that, i use a cotton bud with a blower to clean it carefully. hope this helps.

Im trying to sent my alpha body for cleaning bt almost every week i got shoots and i need the camera. Since im doing career as a fashion photographer, the dust spot disturb my image. Either going to get a new back up body or i need to declare unavailable for 1 week which might troublesome for my client. My sensor have few dried wet dust on it and also on its shutter mirror. I'm not sure if we are able to clean the shutter mirror but anyone whom is pro enough to clean for me within 1 hour time? maybe can teach me how and so in the future i would know how to clean it myself. Thanks.

Wa!! Cotton bud will leave fiber on your lens lei, no meh?

I'm going to send mine for cleaning of my sensor and lens tomorrow! Hopefully they can get it done nicely and fast too.

Actually if your camera is out of warrenty, you will have to pay $60 bucks.
Like my a100.

I checked last month.

Anyway, my friend say he went for this sony workshop and the instructor said that you can get rid of sensor by jus turning on your camera. and burn those sensor away.

dont know if you guys experience it before. but i doubt so it happens.

Guess the hotshoe cap won't help as it is not air tight. Does the tarnish affect the flash contact badly ?

I was also browsing on the magnifying glass with light as I saw the guy at CP using it but found the price exhobitant. Do you have any idea if there are cheaper 'imitations' ?:)

Pro, guess you probably should seriously consider investing in a spare body then. I would if I make a living from my camera :)

$60 bucks is quite steep:( You mean 'burn those dust' away as opposed to 'burn those sensor' away ? Really ? I suppose leaving the sensor on does produce heat but high enough to burn away the dust ? Questionable but interesting :)

for stubborn dust, i use sensorklear by lenspen. quite effective.

I leave my A900 hotshoe cover on all the time... so I don't face the problem... anyway my old 7D hotshoe is also tarnished... by that I mean it's no longer shiny... but it always works when I attach a flash... has never failed me even once...

Ya, I am also getting one after checking out how it works. Easier to use and cheaper to own than the Visible Dust thing.
