DSLR 3 Axis Gimbal Mechanical steadicam

any1 tried it before? its a steadicam where instead of using weights to counterbalance, it uses a sensor to detect the level to balance itself.

Heard you can customize the sensitivity of the sensor also.

thinking of grabbing one for work.

i seen afew online for sale and some homemade.
Alot of them looks alike each other by so similar.
Wonder if some other sellers legit?

Yes. saw some before. I narrowed down to this product called the 'Tarot 5DMII'. But eventually didn't buy it because i bought a handy cam w optical stabiliser.

Having said this, there's one for Gopro as well.

Ok since most people are not in RC (Remote control) as a hobby they are not into working with servos, motors and gyros. I love RC and have a helicopter, nitro cars and planes. The products are gimbals which compensates for movement based on gyro sensors. The free fly product shown is 15000 USD, which is a lot.

Back to RC hobby. If anyone does RC they know a company called hobbyking based in Hongkong that gives products as much more value. They recently have come up with a 3 axis and 2 axis gimbals for DSLR sized cameras which can be assembled for just 500 USD. Compared to a 15000 is like pennies. Go pro gimbals are much cheaper and I plan to get one soon for my 450 sized heli.

Please do note that this is not for people who dont like to tinker around and dont have a soldering iron and multimeters in the house.

Issue is i dont know which brand/seller/manufacturer is legit or QC their products/design.

any1 know if there any sg store that carry this type of product? just checked cathy photo, dont think they carry.

want to test first before buying and also if anything happen can always go back shop and talk

Well I am planning to build one myself soon. Maybe I can do it first to see the performance and make a howto video then help out people who wanna do the same. Currently in US and returning to SG by month end so will probably order next month if I do.

Also I am pretty sure since people dont know about RC many dont know about this product. Once its well known it will sell like hotcakes and will be probably in backorder on the site.

15000 vs 500 choice is obvious.. I can build 30 gimbals for the price of one freefly... lol... And I have stuff from hobbyking they are great value for money. Purist RC guys scoff at them being sub standard but I love them.

They sell a transmitter for 50 dollars which can compete with 600 dollar transmitters and if upgraded it can compete with 1200 dollar transmitter. It spawned a whole new open source google project with a new OS for transmitters. Ok enough about RC.

Brushless gimbals aren't all that new. And like what others have added you could DIY for your own needs if u knew how for a fraction of the price.

What Movi and these other new competitors have done is:
1) Make this a ready-to-use product(no wiring/engineering required)
2) Make it very high quality so they are reliable and most importantly, easy to balance for the noobie.

What kind of shots do you have in mind with this rig? If the scheme of your production calls for only 1-2 shots of stabilizer tracking then you gotta weigh the cost/time of using something like this(From what I've seen of the Movi-type stabilizers these need to be calibrated/tuned with a laptop before it can be properly balanced?)

A friend of a friend works in a production house who has the bosses' son working in there, and he tells us that they always bait him with new products they want to acquire to 'psycho' him into buying(rich man's son what) for the company, which unfortunately is the only thing he is good for(talking to his dad):bsmilie:, but not all of us are working in a similar environment, but i digress.

The problem is alot of manufacturers are jumping onto the bandwagon of this brushless motor gimbal but we are not seeing a whole lot of footage much less being able to handle one so I'm abit skeptical to hand over my money in that respects until there are alot more feedback/reviews. Just look at what happened when a flood of the cheap chinese stabilizers came into the market some good, some bad, some hidden gems, and some with so cheap construction that isn't worth the money paid to ship it here.

Looks interesting. I would love to support Singaporean's product but many of the parts looks quite exposed. The sad thing about our place is that we don't have any manufacturing base to support. Its hard to find someone to do injection moulding plastic parts for us at low quantity...

looks nice but yikes! I wouldn't want it to get wet.. even from an operator's sweat. hope they improve that aspect of it and release it with a competitive pricing.
