it was labeled as DA* 300mm f2.8, not F4
It is DA* 300mm F4, they have fixed the label.

For an F4 lens, it seems to be too big, especially compare w/ the F or FA300/4.5.

Why be an early adopter and pay a hefty premium for the lenses? You'll just be buying based on-paper specs but not on actual performance. Heck, star lens or not, there is no MTF of the actual lenses nor any actual test reviews done. As for me, I'll wait until some actual tests have been done and the lenses are commercially available. Had my share of early adopter lemons in the past (Nikon D70), so I'll wait for the hype to die down.

Seriously the price should be correct. Only reason e-bay selling the F* & FA* so expensive cos they became collector's item. Those price you see are the actual retail price back in 1998 to 2000 when the lenses are still in production. Those links I posted earlier, you won't be able to order from them as those are archives.
