Hi all, I am in US right now and came across the DPS 9000 in a professional photoshop here, its going for US$69.90 before the 8.25% sales tax. The price is the same as advertised on internet website. Have spoken to the owner, they are will to lower the price by 10% only if I am buying 5 units and above. After forex conversion this great lasting unit will be about $110-$120. Bigger discount is indicated by the staff if I bulk purchase at 10 units and above.

I am returning to Singapore on 17th FEB, is anyone interested in getting the battery? My friend here uses it with the 7Hi and has no problems with it. If you are keen, I will ask you to email me at ydaniel@singnet.com.sg with a serious intent and committment to buy the unit so that WE will be able to get this great battery at a discount than over the net and take possession of the unit in slightly more than a week.

Please spread the word to your Nikon friends using Coolpix 5700 too and keep the emails coming ... ...

You can also SMS me on tri-band with your name and indicate interest at +65 9479 8589. Thanks

Daniel ...

It looks interesting, but I'm also thinking of getting a Maha Powerbank instead (at around S$80). Is this one any better?

Thanks. :)

I'll get back to you with my decision at a later date. :)

Actually I am very interested in this product..... Just wonder if the stuff in the review are really in the box or you have to pay extra to get it... Like the car charger etc.

The product SHOULD include the above ... will confirm again when I go down to the shop over the weekend.

Package SHOULD Include:

DPS-9000 Lithium Ion rechargeable battery pack
DP-4U 4.0mm connector cable
DP-1U 4.7mm connector cable
DP-5V 5V step down connector cable
DP-1S Sony connector cable
EC-575 auto switching power supply
Cigarette lighter adapter charger
EC-512 charging interface adapter.

.... as per website

one thing good is that it can attach to the cam below and still able to attach to tripod.
for maha powerbank you have to clip it somewhere and the cord extend to the cam...

Pros and cons, the DPS-9000 comes in one standard size and may not sit out nicely on all cameras (especially if it's fitted to a tiny compact camera). Moreover, adding something between the camera body and tripod head will affect overall stability. The Maha powerrbank is small and tiny and the power cord can be plug in or detach in an instance, as and when you need it.

Dimage users: This battery pack is definitely compatible with Dimage 7/7i/7Hi ...

Where did u get the statement from? I'll email ydanz about it.

Would it work with my Nikon Coolpix 4500?

I have a prob with 7hi. When the camera is overheated, ERR appears and the camera shuts down. Read somewhere that it was because the batteries are located near the CCD (confirm??)

Question: Will happen with the DPS9000 battery?

But anyway i'm still keen on this!

Actually, the batt part isn't really hot -- it's the CF part that's really on the verge of a meltdown...

The below image is extracted from this thread in another forum

As you can see, it's really the CF compartment that's really hot (check another thread on possible reason of ERR problem)...

So having said this, it appeared the DPS is pretty... 'safe', enough, I guess?

Any updates?

Yea. What's the best price you can get us? Given the information by aosis.

I would be interested, but would it work with my Nikon Coolpix 4500? The compatibility charts lists the previous models (995, 990, 950...) and the 5000, and it looks like it works with the 5700.

Hi all,

I have only managed to secure 04 units which were allocated to Raymond, Jester and Marshy on a first come first serve basis. Sorry to disappoint the rest as the shop had limited supply.

As for the Best Buy's price, my friend and I have driven around to 5 outlets of Best Buy and they DO NOT have stock. On ground distance we covered enough ground from Singapore to Thailand border and back. Sorry I was not able to get a better price. Maybe you would be able tob, I might order a second piece from you considering all the trouble I went through to get these 4 pieces to bring home.

I would post again just before my friend returns from US and see if he can come up with something. My findings on the DPS 9000 are as follows:

Charging time for a full charge takes about 4 hours, slightly lesser.
In my 7Hi with a MicroDrive 1GB, it lasts twice as long as compared with use of Sanyo 2100 batteries. When used with CF, it lasts about 3.5 - 4 times longer than Sanyo 2100.

Now I do not have to lug around many sets of Sanyo batteries as like before and one charge of 4 hours is enough as compared to previous 12hours ...

Hope that helps .... will let you guys know if I have another opportunity to go again. The Digipower DPS9000 is not available in shops in Singapore ... I dare say, at the moment.

Best regards,
ydanz
