I've got a bad experience to share. Personally I've never heard of Toshiba 40x CF card, but just don't buy it.
This is the shop that my friend got it:
Stand in front of AlanPhoto, looking at it.. the shop is on the extreme left before the exit. It's near the escalators to the basement.
My friend has never got a CF card before. The ruly-looking guys tried to sell her this Toshiba 40x 256MB CF card. Before the sale, they told her it was new, it was good, it was under warranty.
PTN that 40x is no where listed on this card.
She felt Toshiba was a reliable brand so she bought it. When she called Toshiba Singapore to check out the warranty status immediately after purchasing it, it turns out that Toshiba does make CF cards, but the speeds and other specifications were all UNDOCUMENTED.
Hence, there will be no warranty.
Furious, she returned to the shop demanding for a change of CF card to another brand, either that or a refund. She paid by Nets, so the shop refused to refund her. The shop also refused to change it to another brand, or another product of the same price. They now say it's the last piece that there's no other CF cards in stock.
LPPL, she left. When she took out the card from the case and slot it into the cam, it turned out that this card has been used as a demo for customers - shots of inside the shop, candidshots, movies etc..
After a week of using it, the card became corrupted. She went back to the shop demanding for a change, but the guy prompted formatted the card, erasing all traces of error. And he gave excuses that CF cards must be formatted using a certain setting so that there won't be errors. WTF!?
Lucky she had friends - who took photos in the shop until the card crashed again.. only about 40 over shots.. The guys still refuse to budge, until their colleague told him,"it's ok.. just return to the dealer and get a refund from them.
The shop finally changed the CF card. But issues remain unsolved - Toshiba still doesn't honor any warranty regarding this CF card. Following the shop's tactics, they might just want to sell this off to another poor unsuspecting and gullible customer.
Pls beware.
