Does NSC service/repair grey lens?

Bro, In wat context are you referring to Grey?

All Lenses come International warranty (less those bought in USA).
And if you're paying, I'm sure they will accept.

"Grey" lenses do not even come with international warranty at all it is the shop that gives, their own warranty. Even in the US, Nikon USA will not service "Grey" lenses, even you are willing to pay for it. See this post on one of our CS member experience http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5604272&postcount=1

It best to call NSC and check with them if they are willing to service "Grey" lens at all.

Next alternative is to PM our CS repairman David, his nick "fatigue" to help http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3716275#post3716275

I bought a lens from someone in CS and he assured me the lens is a local set but he lost the box and warranty from movng house. I have used it and there was no problems but I was wondering about whether the lens is really a local set because the serial number is far off from others who have this lens.

I have emailed NSC and they say they need to check further because the serial number I gave them "do not match anything they have in the global database". But they say it does not mean it is not local set, just that they need to check somewhere else and they can only get back to me on monday.

That is what got me suspicious this may not be a local set as claimed.

Since the lens is out of warranty, I am ok with it if NSC assure me they will accept it for servicing even if it is not local. If it is really a grey set then the guy who sold me is dishonest and I will have to confront him about it.

Wow... Thanx Chngpe for the enlightenment. - I didn't know of the existence this practice by the Authorised service centres. To digress abit - Does that mean those bought from MO are considered Grey sets?

Actually it depends, cos the MO could have got it from authorised dealers in HK (for example) with proper receipts as such it is not "grey" and have international warranty. As far as I know (I stand corrected) one good example is the Mass Sale by sykestang here http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219365 he got the items from his sources which are authorised Nikon dealers in HK, hence not "grey" but has international warranty.

Nikon has replied that they will repair all Nikon lenses sent in to them regardless of origins (even grey sets). Normal charges apply.

Nope. I think it was all a big misunderstanding. The first owner has found the box and original warranty already and it has been verified with Nikon as correct.

Hi,

Me and my photography friends from Philippines were just in Singapore last October 27-November 2, 2010.

My friend had his D300 loose rubber replaced + Nikkor 17-55 lens focus ring repaired at Nikon Singapore at Fuji-Xerox Tower with free sensor cleaning to boot all within 1 hour:) My friend's D300 + Nikkor lens were bought from Manila :)

Nikon Singapore will repair any Nikon equipment regardless of origin.

Dear all,

If you have lens that require servicing, it is advisable to send it to Nikon Service Center for servicing.

1. A vendor charges me $65 for cleaning the fungus of my Nikkor 50mm AI F1.4 lens whilst NSC charges me $30, albeit the NSC takes 2-3 weeks to fix.

2. An experienced sales staff warned me that vendor may replace your good lens with inferior lens during cleaning.

I hope this piece of information is of use to you.

Cheers,
Benson

As for today, I like to know if NSC still willing to repair grey set. Is there change of policy?

If you want to know "as of today" then it is best you call them. I don't think anyone here, today brought any lens to NSC for repair or will have the inside information to know what is NSC policy "as of today".

All Lenses come International warranty (less those bought in USA).

Do u mean that lenses bought in USA do not enjoy worldwide warranty??

FYI, NSC in SG did service my lens that is from USA which has passed its international warranty period. Good job NSC.
