35mm film base manual camera By pentacon in E-Germany .

sorry to hear of your friend's loss. the camera looks like the praktica l

wendy, could you list the lens on this camera. if it is a flektogon, pancolar or biotar, it is certainly quite a decent glass.

hello gurus, so sorry for late reply. i told her to send me more close up photos of her late father's camera and the lens. here they are. hope to seek some help to know if she should keep or sell (if it's worthy any $, as their family not so well to do)

It a Pratikar MTL50. Len on camera is a 50mm Pentacon F1.8. Couldn't see the mount - mostly M42 screw mount. The Light-meter should be fine- need battery change.

What remains unsure is the functionality of the camera (whether viewfinder is clear, shutter fires off as it should, etc) & the lens (clear & not affected by fungus or hazed), check that out.........;)

Hi, wendycheah,

History of your camera ,Presented at the 1967 Leipzig Spring Fair, the Praktica nova 1 brought much needed updates to the nova series. Following the lead of the Prakticamat, the nova 1 replaced the two-range shutter speed dial with a modern non-rotating one, with regularly-spaced speeds. In addition, it introduced the PL system for secure and rapid loading.

I have snap let see it :

Thanks,

yeah...i have my brand new old stock, a mtl5b and a couple of lens. nice camera, makes a "chak-chak" mirror slap.

It is a MTL like a MTL 3, MTL 5, MTL 50 and so on. Not a Nova you can see there a L on the prism. The lens is a Auto Panacolar 50mm F1.8. Value wise is not value a lot but it can take great picture that will surprise people.

And there no zoom lens, what I see here is the camera, standard lens, tele convertor, rollei flash and hand meter.

Ops I Bo Bo this not Nova or MTL series camera, but Praktica L series camera

I have the same Camera - It is a Cheap Camera - I think not very good one

hey... the praktica is a nice german camera.

here is an album done up 2 days ago, if you can look past the lousy composition, the textures and tones is actually quite good. f1.4 on the 50mm Super Takumar and shot at 1/15second. A bit of a personal challenge to shoot with 1 f-stop and 1 speed, and all at home.

The Praktika is an East German made camera and it can take great pictures anytime. Nowadays, not many use film so one everyone will appreciate the novelty of having such a camera to use.

Why do you ay it is not a very good camera? Have you used it and found that it is "broken" or what is wrong with the camera?
