Since the demise of Agfa, Rodinal has dissapeared from the shelves... came across an article in Black and White Photography magazine about a DIY developer that kinda works like rodinal.. Maybe you experts have heard of such a receipe...

Para-Aminophenol 17g
Sodium Sulphate 112g
NaOH 10.5g
Potassium Bromide 3g

Mixed into 500ml water at 55 deg C..final solution comes out darker than the original rodinal formula but still works like it.. can be diluted down to 1+25 to make about 40 rolls of 35mm.

Don't know where exactly to get the stuff, especially the aminophenol and whether it's actually doable for a relative newbie like me... maybe you darkroom junkies might know...

Sorry to jump on your thread, but A&O is supposedly reproducing Agfa rodinal. Supposedly because I've yet to see it on the market. I wonder if it'll ever make it out of US.

I don't think you can bring Para-Aminophenol into Singapore. It is considered a poison and controlled substance.

Even if you do obtain it from somewhere, you simply cannot dump the chemical into our seweage system. It is harmful to children and animals.

Ask 'longkangman', he is a seweage engineer and he will tell you how to dispose such chemical.

On a related note. If I want to buy chemicals (not just photographic but simple ones too, like NaOH) in Singapore, where would I go??

Scientific laboratory suppliers. Look under Commercial Yellow Pages.
