i am planning to get a local frame maker to cut for me a "One side anti-glare & one side clear" glass stripe for my v700. Any one here has any experiences to share?
i hate using the current holder, i got newton rings big time while scanning directly film on glass, only handful photos can pass the mark, gave up scanning for now.. Just wanna try something new, unless no choice gotta get from betterscanning..also i see oversea someone selling 8x4' anr glass, any body use this before?
Any info is very much appreciated. Thanks.

I did try but the effect is not optimal. The glass introduced another element... dust.

Anyway, you can drop by and I can pass you one piece to try out, which was cut according to the V700 frame.

You can try use Anti newton ring powder to avoid the problem.
Where to buy? I try dig my bottle out and check. You also can check on line.
Another way is oil mount. It improve your sharpnest and reduce scratch line.
Fill parafin oil both side and place a pc of glass on top. My glass is a pc of ilford glass neg 6 x 9 cm fix clear.

I'm not sure if you already know, but just some advice, ANR glass is only on the top of the film.. the glass that is between the sensor and the film must be clear optical glass, preferably thin. In any case the one that causes most of the newton rings is the clear glass. Especially obvious when you try to scan curly films. You know people say use ANR glass holder to hold curly film flat so can scan properly.. ironically it is curly film that gives the most problems with ANR glass holders as it keeps making contact with the clear glass. Newton rings only appear when there is contact between glass and film. Particularly obvious when your emulsion side is also the "gloss" kind found in most slide and C-41 films. BW emulsions give less problems due to its "matte" surface. In addition, I do not think it is possible to sandwich the film between 2 planes of glass completely and not get newton rings. Even my Nikon ANR glass holder leave a tiny gap between the 2 planes of glass to prevent film contact with the clear glass (contact with the ANR glass is non-issue).

Dust is indeed an issue, however if got digital ICE then it becomes non-issue. otherwise clean your film and glass prior to scanning. For me, I use diluted Ilfotol and give the clear glass a good wipe. This will give the glass a temporary static repel effect to keep the dust off the glass and help prevent film contact on the glass.

One last point I want to bring up is that as long as there is clear glass between your sensor and film, there will be a chance you will get newton rings even if the top plane of glass is ANR coated. Only wet mounting can solve this ANR problem...

You can use anti static brush/film cleaner to reduce static/ dust, problem. or keep your scanning device in a glass compartment work with both hand in it.

ANR glass I use it with my enlarger long time ago it reduce 85% of the problem, still need to keep your working area and keep dry hygrometer reading below 70%. For me, in additional I will share a good scanner among a few user, I can see the "near perfect" picture of my film.

We cannot expect a low cost scanner to capture your high quality lens/film detail/Tone. Just within our budget and "acceptable" range. Many things to learn and go through with scanning your original, hope you enjoy it. :)

Thanks everybody for your tips, really appreciate it.

see the newton ring on the lady's left eye... let me tell you how i solved it (for now)....

after fixing and washing, i put in a drop of dish washing liquid (!!!!) into the tank and fill it up gently with water to soak for about a minute. Rinse and hang the negative up...

I think i solved this problem for now.

Try this supplier.
http://www.betterscanning.com/scanning/insert.html

I got a sheet from him together with the 120 film holder and it works well. Even when the film is in contact with the flat bed on the V700, with the ANR glass on top (matt side in contact with film), I manage to get 80-90% of the scans free of NR. Only very curly films give me problems.

Oh..... Those are called newton rings?

Didnt know that. I used to get it previously when my fixer was re-used to many times, a lot of stains on my B&W negs then I got it, currently dont have...

Not sure scanner problem or not..

thanks again everyone.
@ raytoei, i dont think thats a newton rings in that air crew pic. Let me find my pic with NR and post it tonight if i have the time. My understanding for NR is that it 'may' occur during the scanning process, not with the film developing process.

@mmel, you recommendation is too hard core. Great stuff thou.
