I have head that slr cameras that do both video and pictures are not as good as those that just do pictures. and Now camcorders also come with still pictures. From what i think cameras might be good for video especially if they needed the zoom lens to shoot something.

Not true. The DSLR's that can do video nowadays can do excellent photo just that its video functionality may be crippled in some ways.

The interchange lense option is the selling point for DSLR. while for the camcorder is the ease of handling and audio.
technology is changing the industry.

the key words are "Akan Datang".

its only a matter of time before they get the mix right.

really depends on what kind of camcorder you are talking about. If you pull Pro Res still frames from footages shot by RED, it might be better than some DSLR' still shots. Some short comes for video DSLR:

-Battery life (V mount or A/B mount camcorder battery capacity is rated by watt hour)
-Overheating (there is mini fan inside camcorder to make it cool, DSLR's big chip is going to dissipate enormous amount of heat)
-No balanced audio input (XLR)
-No servo control on lens
-Weight is not probably distributed, you will shake a lot when doing handheld
-Colour space is not telecast safe
-can't sync timecode
-Crappy Codec (you got a problem in post)

DSLR is only good when you know what you are doing

That being said many projects are now shot on 5D and 7D...... even your promo video on TV.
