Disappointed with NSC

Fortunately for me, my story is of a better ending. My D700 stopped reading my CF card after 2 weeks and was given a 1 for 1 replacement.
If it have gone to the service center, I may have the same situation here like many others here.

My service experience with Canon is very good too. My G7 picture has visible dust sign on it and went to Canon for service. Even through it is still under warranty, they said that I will need to pay for the cleaning service. After making some noise, they waive the service charge and did it for free. This is what I called good service.

Is NSC managed by Nikon or outsource company?

Wow... I think your friend was very unlucky. :-( During my time about 3months ago, it took like 1hr only.

well NSC has managed to find me a loan lens. Will be collecting it tomorrow.

But I still hope this won't happen any more. I'd still prefer to be using my own lens.

Hi guys,

I think its only Singapore, coz I am currently relocated to USA for work...Called them at this unearthly hour of 11pm...and their support stuff online is still ever so helpful....however, they cant really help me much as I bought my camera from Singapore........I really wonder why body warranty is not Worldwide.

Anyway, the problem is that before I relocated, and got my D300 with the MBD10 grip, I had a problem of intermitent malfunction. In tat the camera cant recognize the grip's battery...before I got flame, I use original Nikon EnEl3e s. So I sent it in, they told me they didnt fiind any problem and supposedly replace the pins.........

Here I am in california, stucked with a grip that doesnt read my fully charged batteries....and not able to send to any of the service center without having to pay.....although I have warranty still........

Shitty. But I give thumbs up for the helpline (USA)

Glad there is at least some resolution. Good luck with the repairs.

Once I sent in a D200 for front focus issue, the idiotic counter staff Chinese male fella took my camera, pointed it at a sign hanging on the ceiling, took one shot, showed me on the LCD screen and said "okay what!". Like as if focus issues can be diagnosed with available light indoor handheld shot on an LCD!.

I've been using Nikon stuffs since 1978, and they still gave customers the "same old stories." Pity you bro. Hopefully your lens will be ready for the next "few months". FYI a friend of mine sent his Nikon D200 to clean it's sensor (dust particles) and it takes 1 month plus. Just imagine that......:thumbsd:

What?!! That's crazy!

I sent my D80 in once for cleaning and it took them only 1 hour! That was a few months back, say 3-4 months ago?

A friend of mine owns the Canon S2IS for 3 yrs plus. Last year for no reason it's lcd display was totally out. Guess what? Sent to Canon for checking and according to Canon, it's manufacture's fault and it was fixed F.O.C. FYI I'm a Nikonian.

WOW! That's nice of Canon.

Like what one of the CSers had asked previously, is this NSC run by Nikon or is it outsourced to another company?
For e.g. Dopod service center used to be outsourced to SIS and they had very very bad service then, but now HTC/Dopod has taken over the service center and they have substantially improved service. Same thing happened for Nokia (although some may say that Nokia customer service is still lacking nowadays, it was worse previously when it was outsourced).

The TS have found a resolution, thread closed.
