Hey guys, for those who're wondering -- the Dimage 7 series (I would think for all those relatives of these too) performed very well in cool conditions!

Remember the time where the CF compartment is as good as an oven or something, baking the CF? Well, I brought the thingy to HK lately (it's winter, dropped to ard 6 - 12 deg celsius), and it's cool all the way! Batt life is still alright on the 7Hi (using mainly ISO100, sometimes with flash, mostly taken in day)

Regarding the teleconverters, any one got ideas on the canon (or olympus) series (B-200 or B-300), suppose to limit vignetting to some degree...?

The CF cards get hot on their own - mine come out of my laptop after a 'download' pretty warm as well.
Last night for the first time I pushed by D7i hard enough to noticably warm the grip :-)

6 degress C isn't cold. :-). Try going further north...
The camera should work fine until the battaries freeze up, below zero NiMH get progressively worse until they go dead. They will revive when they warm up again.

Every one seems to say they are the ones to get (Particularly the B300) but the are not made any more, and people on E-Bay are selling them for 3 or 4 times what they paied for them. Some oportunists went and bought several as they were being 'cleared out' from local camera stores and then flogged them on E-Bay for many times what they paied for them...

I think if you are going to below Zero temperature countries ... try using Lithium Ion ... non-rechargeable ... they are suppose to be better but a full load would cost about S$20.

Yea, 6 deg isn't cold as there can be, but it's already enough to not feel the heat in the handgrip, so that shold suffice for me ;p Will prolly be ttrying sub-zero temp or somewhere clos to that in a few months time... hope it stands up :(

Yea, oh well, does any shop ard sell them at all?

So it's only the B300 that's worth looking at?

can also consider the Olympus Tcon 14B. But it's only 1.4x, quite big, and costs ~$300. There's also the huge 1.7x teleconverter meant for the Sony F717 (>$350).

Anyone tried this two ?

I'm already experiencing slight vignetting on my UV filter (Hoya Super HMC Pro or something)... :((((

The one for sony... would have any problems?

Any place where I can test out these TCs before i buy?

Hah.. mine .. not enuff current to sustain... somehow.. tried using those 2x 6v (700mah or so).. in parallel also no good.. fren recommended those used for RC cars... sufficient amp + voltage..

which one ya using, Horus?

Ai yoh, just use D Size Sanyo Ni-cds loh... high power drain... no prob. low voltage drop. For drains of up to 80 amps, look at the batteries from www.powerstream.com. Fighting robots batteries. Bad thing is the $100 minimum order.
