I applaud clubsnap as a great resource for talented photographers...

Why not make subforums for the rest of the crew?

I have been longing for ages to discuss about the other aspects of photography with like minded models and digital imaging artists to share our experiences and such in our own areas.

After all we need a whole team of people to make a picture work... not just a photographer.

I hope my suggestion can be taken into consideration.

Thank you.

Not trying to create a flame war, but photography is not only about portrait shoot... My view on the above recommendation is good, but it seems to me that it is more towards portraiture shoot since only MUA and model and DI artist are mentioned...

If sub-forums for the above mentioned are to be opened, I think it is also fair to have sub-forums for different specialists (such as food stylists etc) to be in as well... In that case, will it make the forum too complicated?

A very good point, but how many food stylists are out there who want to talk about their technique? I know there are many MUA's and models around who would use the section fully.

yup, it would be nice to have a sub forums for us because there is quite a number of the essential crew around to make the photos work...

food stylist? thats interesting...

All feedback should be taken constructively and reviewed by the 'authorities'. TS is kind enough to recommend creating sub-forums for the "rest of the crew" and not limited to just portraiture photography crew.

But from what I've seen over the years of my CS membership, the admins would only create new sub-forums if there are clear trends where lots of posts are found related to the sub-forums in other sub-forums. So perhaps to convince admins, there must be active contribution on posts related to these potential new sub-forums.

And that's my feedback. Cheers!

You can start by posting your DI and MU tips/pointers/comments on the thread first. After all, I'm sure the thread starter would like some pointers on DI and also the views of a MUA.
At the moment there is not much of this going on, if the traffic on DI and MUA is high, I'm sure the Admins will be more convinced to start a sub forum.
Cheers

I thought its good for me to post a reply in case people think we are ignoring.

Just for everyone info, a few things come into our (admins) mind when deciding a new subforum

1) Interest level - those who have been with CS for a long time, you will know this is important. I am proud to say that (apart from those vendor paid subforum), the rest of the subforums are all active .

2) Manpower - for every subforum we plan to create, we need to have people (members or existing mods) who are keen and have the time and interest to help in driving the subforum. This doesn't mean moderation alone. It includes which are the right topics to put as sticky, FAQ, how to help members who are new to the subforum interest group.

3) Conflict - We need to know if theres any potential conflict with the current existing subforum so that we don't create a new subforum and drive all traffic from exisiting subforum into the new one making the current one empty and silent.

4) Relevancy - we admin do need to think hard how does the new subforum will compliment and whats the relevancy.

These are just some things that will always go into our head when we see such similar requests.

I can only say that we are still monitoring this thread to judge if its a go ahead. Meanwhile keep the discussion ongoing :)

I think that shifting the focus to things other than photography is starting to stretch the main theme of this forum. Things like makeup and food styling are quite a far shift from photography. The next thing we'll have threads for beauty, health care etc :P
