I'm starting to have quite a number of 96kbps/24bit field sound recordings on my PC right now, trying to build up an archive of recorded sound bits for use on photo slideshows, movies, etc.

I'm now tracking these files with an excel file with the file name, date, location and a short description of the session/scene etc.

Is there any software out there that does this more elegantly that anyone can recommend, especially when I need to search for a particular sample through hundreds or thousands of files? I've been doing research on this on the internet and so far I don't find anything professional on this yet.

Thanks.
