outdoor can either be in shelter/shade or without shelter...bouncing or using reflector is really up to your choice although without shelter its usually harder to go by bounce method unless your bounce card is very big in which case u might as well use reflector...then the flash can be either fill-in or non-fill-in...then as for the shadow; it wont even be there if u r in daytime without shelter since there is *nothing* for the shadow to fall on, however if u r at night outdoors then the dim background may mask the shadow so that the shodow is not at all obvious...so it really depands on the specific situation u r in ^_^
