Different Digital Leica

Hi guys,Want to know something.Experience shooter like you guys if given the same lens for instance a summilux 50mm f1.4 but shoot with different camera given the M8 or M8.2 or M9 on a same object at same angle same aperture everything same. What are the differences this 3 camera will produce?

Just my thougt but maybe wrong:
Same subject taken at the same distance, with M8, you'll get a Cropped picture of M9.
But with the same subject & if you want the same size of image to be produced in the picture, ie with M9 you need to move in closer, then perspective will be different & probably you get a shallower DOF with M9 too at the same f-stop.
You got M9; I got M8. Why not do a live comparison?;)

The key answer to your question is: the same lens will have different focal length in M8 and M9. This is caused by sensor size difference.

50mm lux on M9 and M8

The M8 has smaller sensor than M9, which means focal length for lens is different.
Examples:
50mm on M9 = 65mm on M8
35mm on M9 = 46mm on M8
M9 ISO performance > M8 ISO performance
M9 dun need special filter for colors, M8 need special filters for color correction
M9 bokeh > M8 bokeh (due to sensor size difference)
M9 LCD made of scratchable plastic, M8.2 LCD glass made of sapphire glass

M8.2 has the following features that M8 does not have.

* A new extra-quiet, low vibration metal blade focal plane shutter
* An ultra scratch-resistant sapphire crystal cover glass for LCD
* snapshot mode
* A “vulcanite” finish to the camera body (black and silver versions)
* Viewfinder bright-lines (to frame subject) optimised for 2 metres (M8 is 0.7 metre)
* A more compact, faster charger

M9 has all the above features of M8.2, except the LCD sapphire glass. M9 only got lousy plastic.

Essentially what gommy has said.

To include the whole scene of what a particular lens will produce on the M9, you will have to take a few steps back with the M8. You can test this effect out with the Image Field Selector on your M9, toggling between the 28mm and 35mm framelines (28mm lens on an M8 gives an approximate 35mm FF FOV).

The M8 and M8.2 both have a crop factor of 1.33. They will produce the same picture in the scenario you described.

there's also the poor man's digital rangefinder... 6mp sensor & 1.53x crop... if you need to further analyse & compare this, i'd be more than glad to bring my RD1s! :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Thanks everyone who responded.I think most importantly the guy who uses the rf is very important too.Give me M10 also produce lousy pictures:bsmilie:
