difference between leica and leitz lenses

Hi!..

I know this must be a super dumb question to most people who are used to these lenses by now.. but I was just wondering if theres any difference between the leica/ leitz lenses.. or are they the same?

sorry! i've really no idea!

cause i'am thinking of buying some 2nd hand RFs and leica lenses!

Ernst Leitz Gmbh was the former name of the company before they divided into 3:
+ Leica Camera
+ Leica Geosystems
+ Leica Microsystems

Actually, Leica = LEItz CAmera

Btw, there is a funny thing about that corporate transformation. The famous top plate script in classic leica M now belongs to Leica Microsystems, so Leica Camera has to pay if they want to put it on new camera. That's why we have the stupid blank top plates in M6 M7... And now, the stupid license agreement doesn't allow Leica Camera to sell black dot leica anymore haha

from what i heard, there is no more in the future. Of course, the ones which were delivered still have.
