Hi Guys, I've got a M8 with a 28/2.8 Elmarit ASPH, both which I bought only just recently.

I've taken some pics with at varying apertures and when I look at it up close, lines are well defined but not TACK sharp as if it has been through a photoshop sharpen filter.

Now the thing is, is this considered sharp? How do you define sharp?

Thanks for looking.

Sensation of sharpness as you view it, is not the same as resolution.
And is also a factor of the screen on the camera or the PC monitor, graphic card quality, etc...
Software sharpening filter may just adjust the contrast character of image.

The theoretical limit of resolution is set by your M8 sensor.

At least with film, we can change the film to say, Velvia.

Why not post a few pictures?

You sure it is not the battery?

Could be the battery. Tomorrow going to Cathay to buy a spare and charge it as well. If it fails to charge, then I can be sure that it's the charger. I need a spare batt anyway so this makes a good excuse for me to get one tomorrow :))

not all lenses are sharp or tack sharp. no definition. Some lenses are even made to reduce sharpness etc...canon portrait lenses or nikon.
