(D70), is it just me or the battery performance is good?

My experience isn't as good, but that may be because I normally shoot RAW and JPG Fine, and that I use flash maybe 20% of the time. I am now into my 4 charge in 2 weeks.

yeah me too. My battery couldn't really last that long. I am thinking of getting spare battery. :)

Well guys... perhaps you guys do lots of reviewing via the viewfinder.. too much reviewing can lead to up to 40% shorter battery life..

 Agreed... My experience with my D100, mounted with 2 batteries on the MBD-100 vert grip... when I use a prime lens, 28mm & my 85mm, I've already shoot abt 1800 shoots and the battery is still on at the 75% mark since my last charge of both battery. This drop only happens today after I mounted my the AF300 f/4 and AF80-200D f/2.8 and also tested out the AFS70-200 with VR on. However the 1800+ shots is real since my last charged.

Wondering on whether the 10D or 300D can match this??? ;p

Don't wish to mention this... the drop also partly due to the Microdrive I sold you as it will consume more power as compared to static CF memory as it contains moving parts... :embrass:

Frankly I do not advise to buy OEMs... Nikon does warn their users against OEMs. If you want I'll try to get a piece of original Nikon EN-EL3 at a good price for you? :) Let me know if you needed one.

My advice is also for all Nikonians here, not worth to risk shorting a few thousand dollars camera over a $35 saving on battery. Understand that warranty will void if found to be using OEM battery. :nono:

You do have a point here. The thing with Li-ion is that it needs 'smart' charging, much smarter than NiMH. An overcharged Li-ion is no joke, it just explodes and burns like a huge firecracker (more power than a SAF thunderflash). If you will, there should be some videos on the net showing examples. The battery found in the EN-EL3 and many other more advanced Li-ion packs supposedly contains protection circuitry and stuff. Another good example of smart Li-ion is found in Motorola packs for transceivers. Of coz it smells like marketing talk and it's up to the individual's choice....... :D

However, distinction must be made between 'OEM' and fake aka imitation batteries. Fake batteries are usually much cheaper. Again, there is usually no clear guidelines, 'OEM' may be borderline fake kinda quality too, if you know what i am saying.

Good point !

my image counter now ard 3.5k already. and charge 4 time.. now the batte still full .

just wanted to point out something: loading pics through USB cable attached to the camera also drains battery juice. this may explain the weaker than expected battery life experienced by some of you.

OT: beach boy like ur avatar! any albums?

The battery life in D100 and D70 are good. You'll probably run out of cards before you run out of batteries. As long as you don't do too much chimping, you'll probably fill up a couple of GB storage space (in JPEG Hi mode) before you run out of juice (with just one battery).

My friend tried the OEM batteries for his D100... works well so far. I'm not related to any OEM batteries manufacturer... :)
