haha.. maybe before you make such a claim, you should have googled it yourself first...

oh i see.

i can imagine D60+70-200mm F2.8 lens how it looks like.
a killer combination

yeap. it's a killer combination.

tried the D60 70-200 2.8 during one of the combined reh at NDP this year. exceptionally sharp. tho as some bros here would say, the D60 might appear to small for the 2.8 lens.

I reckon a D80 would be the appropriate one in the mid-professional level of nikon. not to mention pro grade cams like D200/D300/D700 or D3...

the 70-200mm VR II is already selling in Japan and the US, its not selling here yet though. rumours are that it'll be sold here starting next month or november.

Would you then recoemened waiting ???

dont wanna pick one up only to discover the new lens is better.

i know its not always the case as we know...manufacuturerer's are pretty well known to reduce prices by incorporating cheaper materials to yeild a newer model......

Any advice here...???

there's no VR II lens.. not yet anyway.. there are a lot of rumours that Nikon will make an update for this lens.. they probably will, but when that is, no one can say for now..

so if you need the lens to shoot something soon, just get the one available.. if you are willing to wait an unknown time until Nikon announces the update for this lens, then by all means.. remember also it will take some time at least before being easily available, from the date Nikon announces something new..

just as a sidenote, the current 70-200m lens seems to be a fantastic lens by most accounts.. and when/if Nikon does update it, I'm quite sure it will be better(would otherwise defeat the purpose of updating it?).. The question is, how much better? and will most users need or be able to tell the difference?

Well rationalised ....

As for being better, well this is questionable....

i mean given the existing specs, it appears that the one of the key "nice to haves" expressed has been the compotibility for full frame cameras. I can appreciate the advantage here, but with my little D60, i dont think its going to make a difference. i have also heard that it may possibly be cheaper...given the amount one would have just spent on an FX unit......So if not anything, I'd say that the existing model will suit my exisiting need to satisfy my beach photo-fetish

Question.....

Why is it that Nokin USA offers what appears to be a standard 5-year warranty on the 70-200 and all other countries like Signapore and Australia only offer a pathetic 12 months.

You;d think after spending that amount of money the lens would come with a little more assurance......

what gives...???

Depends on your needs. Do you need the lens now? If the answer is yes, then you should buy it first.

Another consideration is whether you'll go FX. If the answer is yes, I would advice you to wait. The current 70-200VR is optimised for superb performance over DX and the corner sharpness falls off quite sharply as you approach FX.

i used the 70-200 f2.8 VR on my d40x before. no issues, just that you have to support most of the weight with ur left hand, holding the lens. i let the whole setup hang from the strap from my shoulder. felt a bit weird but no biggie.

this lens focused quite fast even on the d40x. grip aside, there's not much difference between this and other 70-200 combis..
