Does anyone know anything about it? How much can one expect to pay for a good condition used M8?

around price of m7. 3.5 +
M8.2 is around 5 k
Seriously want a M8?

If you have a set of lens and a body (MP/M6/M7) a M8 will be a good combination.

Ic I was considering also but end up getting an M7 instead.

Hand coding your lenses can be a hassle.

M7 price is quite fixed but M8 is still a question.

Less risk if I sell my M7 to get the M9 in future.
Happy with the M7. Just the bad weather bugging me....

An M8 wont last you a lifetime. That how I feel.

Might get a M8 , D700 or FM3 to complement my set up.

Erm M8 is afterall a digicam and APC is getting kicked out quite soon 2-3 years?
Cheapest FF is 2.6k.. Sony alpha 750(rumored FF) might be even cheaper...

selling off a M8 in 2 years time might face big losses.

Im currently using a film Zeiss rangefinder right now, im pretty happy with it, just that scanning negatives takes up too much of my time. Development and buying of films also add up to a hefty sum of money over the long run. That's why im considering.

Ah a zeiss. That is a nice camera. Viewfinder very attractive. I know what you mean that film is a killer. M8 I think you need to test it out and see if you like it or not. especially the viewfinder.
If scanning is the prob just get the lab to do it(5 to 10 bucks more). If you need really good quality pics then do the scan by yourself?

If you are using a Zeiss now will you be happy with a crop camera? I dont think i can cos i nit pick. Totally up to you.

I suggest look at a M7 and M8. feel the difference and look through the viewfinder.
I tried the Zeiss and M7. M7 feels better where I feel more in control.

M8 prices seems have dipped below S$3000 in other markets. Here's another example. But somehow, local prices seem to be much higher. I suppose buyers here are just not bothered by the 1 to 2 thousand dollar difference.

Zeiss Ikon is nice. I much prefer it over the M7.

Cheers,

I wear glasses so quite hard to compose the 35m focal length on M7 compared to Ikon.
maybe its time for contact lenses....

I bought my used chrome M8 for 4K from a fellow CSer. It's still under warranty though.. I did this knowing that prices could potentially drop further. I guess as long as the camera serves your needs and you can use it for at least 4-5 years, then it's fine. I just hope Leica can continue to support any repairs on this model in a few yrs.

support should definetly should still be there.

I recently had my Hexar RF repaired by Sony but had to fly it to Japan. Hexar ceased production in 2003 but support is still avaliable through Sony.

I believe the same would be for Leica, just send it to Solms I guess or get schmidt marketing to do it.

Of cour$e $olm$ will $till $upport the M8 $y$tem a$ a $ervice to their loyal cu$tomer$.

I'm also tempted to whack one-times m8 given the spiralling prices right now!:D:D:D
