I know how hard it is to take these guy's up close, as they are an especially jumpy species of dragonfly. Took a similar shot before, but against a grassy background so the colour contrast was not as good as your shot. Nice work!
Get a Macro lens lar. Not necessarily Canon one, can be third party. For e.g Tamron 90mm SP 1:1 Macro is a proven and excellent lens for macro photography. (Some of the bros. here using it). Costs abt $590 new.
Alternatively you can get a 500D closeup filter to attach to your 70-200 f4...not sure if there is a version with 67mm thread size tho...

so 500D is around 50cm focusing distance and 250D is around 25cm.
The Canon EF 100 USM Macro is good because of USM and internal focusing but its optical quality should be a bit behind sigma 105mm EX Macro and tamron SP 90mm.
