FYI: Traditional fishing method in which fishermen use trained cormorants to fish in rivers.
To control the birds, the fishermen tie a snare near the base of the bird's throat. Though this prevents the birds from swallowing larger fish, which are held in their throat, the birds are still able to swallow smaller fish. When a cormorant has caught a fish in its throat, the fisherman brings the bird back to the boat and has the bird spit the fish back up. Though cormorant fishing used to be a successful fishing industry, its primary use today is to serve the tourism industry.
Haha...and sorry...no action shots. The birds were fast and too close! A couple of times, my camera was almost wet cos i was in the boat next to the swimming birds.
isn't this action enough? close-up and sharp, spot on the open mouth all shown with fish inside and hand posture all well-shown, water droplets splashing off with the jerking movement...
haechoo, i see the intention for the alternating color and b/w pics, but i still very much prefer the coherence and also the colored versions. the b/w dun show very much of tonal contrast and dun does give the punch. you can take a look at this thread where the contrast is good. as for how to make that contrast punch, dun ask me cos i sux at b/w and thus almost never shown mine. other than that, your tele shots for the birds are very good, at least to me as a non bird shooter. the front profile, though not deep enough to show the beak as sharp, is accurately focused for the eyes.
Hmmm...i love taking black and white, but definitely need alot more practice. The thread you shared had better contrast for the colour pictures. The black and white din speak to me.
Thought this black and white picture spoke alot to me. But i guess to each his own.
