True, but it would make it hard for their entry level dslr customer to "upgrade" to a "typical" dslr setup.

I guess this is more of a in between of a PNS and DSLR, so when the users learn that there are limitations to this cam, they will move on to get a better cam so the upgrading path is still there. Like you, experienced DSLR users will tend to go for the other models like the A300, A350 or A700 instead.

With the launch of the A500 & A550, it is clear that Sony purposely "downgrade" the features in A330/A380 (as compared to A300/A350) so that it would not eat to the market share of the new dslr. :(

Man... A lot of us know that for a long time. Dont you notice a bit of "cool" response for the new entry level DSLR from a lot of us here??

Anyway, Sony is re-arrange its Alpha product line. After what has been announced, I am somewhat curious on how A4xx and A6xx going to be. I am even more curious how the next A7xx replacement going to be.

Haha... Actually is not that bad, just treat it like a P&S. I tried it before, it seems to find a AF lock much easier than my A350. Since lens are similar, I suspect some enhancement was done to the sensor. They for anyone who are looking for DSLR quality result and don't want any of the complexity.

The AF motor is also faster compared to the A2XX / A3XX. Kinda surprised by the speed when I tried it with the beercan.
