I'm in need of an underwater camera for an upcoming trip.

I have an old Nikon Coolpix 5600 which supposed to have UW casing available.

Would like to ask if its worth getting UW casing for this camera?

Anyone tried this cam for under water photos? Can guide me where to see sample
pics for this cam underwater.

Thanks in advance.

yah just found out from my research, compatible housing is discontinued.

maybe I'll just rent a camera or buy those disposable ones or try your suggestion,

thanks anyway.

Have you tried ebay or looked at used housings?

I would like to make sure first that this camera will perform well
underwater before I porsue getting the housing, so far couldn't
find any sample underwater shoot by this camera.

If camera and housing got good feedback then maybe try and get
used housing, Underwater camera should come in handy from time
to time specially summer.

i think any camera performs as well underwater as it does on land.

if you can't use it on land, then you probably can't get any good shots underwater as well.

Pardon me for my ignorance, I haven't try shooting underwater before
Only now I'm thinking of getting one just for liesure purposes.

But I have a perception that when bring a camera underwater it shouldn't
be the same.

I mean focusing wise and sharpness of pics will be affected, just my belief
thats all. Sorry for my newbie question

no worries

we is here to helps. haha

main consideration for me when taking photos u/w, good AF for macro, fairly accurate WB if no strobe, WA equivalent lens?

I am a die-hard Nikon user with Nikon Dslr, etc, but when it comes to P&S digital cameras, I have to admit that I am seriously considering Canon cams. The pictures I took using a nikon P&S with U/W casing don't look as good as those from someone with a Canon in terms of sharpness and color reproduction. Probably I am lousy photographer. Anyway just my 2 cents worth. My take of getting an U/W camera is that it must also have a good ISO range since lighting is always an issue, fast response speed, and easy to adjust WB settings.

That is if you trust ebay... i do and hv bought some stuff m there. you just hv to be careful and screen the seller carefully...

Make sense getting it versus a NEW camera coz if it floods, not so painful to pocket... (touch wood)

Good Luck ;)

good ISO range meaning? Usually I (not sure abt others) shoot only at low ISO when underwater. Lighting is double-edged. Enuf to fill out colours at that depth and illuminate ur subject, but ur WB must be properly adjusted. But too much flash means u lose colours n details.

Besides, don't believe in such things as lousy photographer. Only those who work hard to learn and accept criticism and those who think they're too talented, aldy knw enough and don't need criticism.

Speaking abt colour correction, whoswho brought his Lumix down during Sipadan and the colour rendering was much more brilliant than my Canon Powershot compared at the same depth.
