Want to convert a big .TS file into a smaller .MPEG, optionally burning onto DVD if desired, while retaining captions (burning captions into video if necessary).
The recordings are from a Beyonwiz DP-Lite PVR. I have used the Beyonwiz WizFx program to consolidate the individual 32MB files into a big .TS file. In Windows the .TS file is playable in VLC and I can do format conversion using it, but I cannot get captions/subtitles into the converted file.
This is a project I started to assist a couple of seniors who are running out of space on their HDD. My idea is to convert (and reduce file sizes) for the recordings they want to keep, burn to DVD when later they want to keep permanently. Retaining captions are important. And doing it with freeware.
Any help/suggestions very much appreciated.
