yeah, i find it hard to believe, but thats what you get when you select the $8.90/roll extra 'scan to CD' option when you send fresh film for processing/printing. the only explanation is that its far easier to dump 4 x 4R at a time on a flatbed scanner like a photocopying machine....

so if anyone has actual knowledge of a lab that actually scans from negatives please let us know....

My regular lab, Colour Lab Photo Finishing at Adelphi scans directly from the negs using their Frontier minilabs. $9.90 on top of the regular D&P rates. If you choose not to print, then it's $13.50 for developing + scanning to CD.

Easier to use flatbed? I don't think so. Nothing is easier than loading the roll of film onto the Frontier and letting it batch scan. Can even do corrections easily. Flatbeds are so slow....

hi ckiang

you usually deal with people in the basement or level 1?

Basement 1. They are friendlier and more knowledgeable. But they have now consolidated the basement store and the original 1st floor store into another store on the 1st floor. Now most of the time you have to face the 2 ladies which are of the "typical salesgirl" types.

hi ckiang

do you always develop + scan your photos?

can't decide if I should develop + print 3 rolls,
then scan the best of the 3 rolls into CD

or

develop + scan then go back and print those I like

do the scanned images look good or must
be adjusted?

thank you! :D

For negs, I usually develop the whole roll and scan to CD. More economical than asking for individual scans ($1.00 per frame). So, I think 2nd option is better.

The scans are very good (of coz, since those is what they use to print your photos on their machine).
