Hi guys,

Is the Contax T2 60th Anniversay Gold Edition worth keeping? Compared to the normal edition, it's like almost 5 times the price for the same function. Quite a lot of pay for a 200 piece production run time isn't it?

Cheers,

if u are a collector no doubt it's worth it.

I alway thought that the gold editions looked good on 'gigolos', you know, the type with the big gold rings, gold wrist chains, gold necklaces and gold rolex watches.

Cheers,

a friend sold his for a song as he hated the "gold" on the T2, soon after buying it.
it was too yellow and too fake. a half hearted "gold" job that is neither here nor there.
looked like a pasar malam fake gold paint job done in a backyard village in Shenzhen.
in fact he sold it much below the price of a normal T2. he hated the poorly done "gold paint job" on the T2 that much.
as a camera it is good and has a great lens. so stick with the normal T2.

Now (after reading Benny's message) are sellers ripping off buyers to sell a gold T2 for 5 times the value of a T2?
oops, on 2nd thought I hope Benny is not the owner of the gold T2. anyway above is only an opinion of one previous owner.
but if benny is thinking of buying a gold T2 for 5 times normal price of a T2, suggest he reconsider.

the "normal" T2 looks better than the "gold" T2.

want to see a good looking gold camera?
see rolleiflex gold royal urushi
leica M gold "sultan of Brunei" special order version

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The value is there as long as there are folks out there willing to fork out big money for such items. I know folks who think the bright yellow gold is about the prettiest thing out there, it's just a matter of personal taste. And the fact is that the production is limited to 200 pieces, so gold or not, there is still some value in that.

I've been informed that there is actually 1600 pieces. So it's not much of a limited edition after all.

And it's not all gold. It's black and gold. Looks like a brick when compared with my Pansonic FX7. TCW has it now, but without the oak casket. Heard there is another Platinum edition? Anybody knows anything about it?

I suppose I will need a good film scanner to go with this if I want to share my pictures. Perhaps the Konica Minolta Diamage Scan Elite 5400 II?

Cheers,
