how much does it cost to get a money order from a local bank for US$500?
i read up on western union and they charge ard US$15 for it..
wonder y would anyone use them since they dun provide escrow services..
Escrow too expensive. Money order or cashier's cheque very very very very slow to clear, so the seller may only ship after the cheque is cleared i.e. possibly one month or more. The GST that I am referring to is the 5% GST that is charged on any item shipped to you that has a declared value of more than SGD400. It is in the GST ACT. On one hand, to protect yourself from the loss of the item during shipping, you have to ask the seller to declare the actual cost of the item and insured amount, and pay GST. On the other hand, if you ask the seller not to declare the true cost, and if the item is lost or damaged during shipping, too bad for you as it is normal practice to leave the insurance option to the buyer.
