Hi.

Anyone knows which is a better performance cf card?
Lexar 12x or Transcend 30x?
I am looking at the 256mb card. Anyone knows the street price and a good place to buy them?

thanks in advance!

Hard to say. But 30x from Transcend is discontinued, only the 45x available officially. I would go for the higher rating in this case unless a conflict of hardware applies. Given a chance, I would go for the Ridata 52x for both performance and warranty (5 years). So far the newer 52x Ridata has no problems for all/most digicam. Transcend 45x got some problems with minolta and olympus I think.

The Transcend 30x card is only marginally faster, say ~10%, than the Lexar 12x.

To many pple, this difference is almost negligible. If both prices are similar, go for the Transcend. If both prices differs greatly, then go for the cheaper one. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the street price.

Depends also on the camera, if it's just digital cameras, the speed actually don't matter that much. Just get something of the recent build will do. The writing speed is also dependant on the camera itself. Not just the card. :)

espn is right, the cf writing speed is also due to the camera. I don't think it makes sense to buy a ultra high speed cf card to use on a 2.0 megapixel camera.

Just my two cents.

thanks for all the contribution. i am using the card on a 4 megapixel coolpix....

still looking for street price and a good place to buy the card...
