Compact Camera Video Stabilization

Hey all,
Which would be a good compact digital camera with the best video stabilization, less shakes i mean, i just want to be able to put the video camera in my pocket, the phone videos are just too shaky..Pocket camcorders are also pretty similar unless there is a really good one you all can recommend..but still a compact digital camera with this function would be preferred obviously for the photos...

Something like Canon PowerShot SX260 HS or there is much better ones??

Budget around 400..

But wanted compact camera not camcorder as it doesn't fit in my pocket...:)

Olympus announced the STYLUS SH-50 in Jan.

Sounds promising for what you're looking for.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., January 7, 2013 – Shooting video with a point-and-shoot camera or a mobile phone can sometimes be a hit-or-miss experience, with jerky results that could cause motion sickness. To provide a better experience, Olympus has created the STYLUS SH-50, a new premium, compact long zoom camera that’s equipped with 5-Axis Video Stabilization, 3-Axis Image Stabilization for stills and Full 1080p HD Video. A first for point-and-shoot cameras, its 24x optical zoom lens (25-600mm equivalent)* combines with an advanced image stabilization mechanism, originally developed for the Olympus OM-D E-M5 flagship interchangeable lens camera, to compensate for image blur in all situations regardless of the scene. The result is brilliant still images and beautiful movies, even while using zoom.

The STYLUS SH-50 iHS is a true hybrid optimized for anyone looking to record virtually blur-free memories of any important milestone frozen in time or full of vivid motion. The SH-50 iHS is equipped with an Advanced Movie mode for powerful video recording functions including Photo-In-Movie that captures a full 16-megapixel still image while simultaneously shooting Full HD movies and High Speed Movies for 120 frame per second shooting in 720p HD and 240 frames per second in HVGA. The STYLUS SH-50 iHS includes 60i Movie--60 frames per second HD recording--for smoother images of moving subjects.

What Kandinsky said seems to be the one, the other brands which i would prefer more actually like the pana lx7 or the sony doesn't have any sort of stabilization for video mentioned...or am not looking at the reviews properly..:)

U should go around shops to try out all the cameras mention or in your list ... Reading doesn't do alot of help when comparing video stability in photo cameras actually.

I suggest OM-D, RX100, SH-50 (i'm not familiar with that) and LX7.

FYI, i've used OM-D & HX9V & RX100 in my professional work before for handheld C-Cam (3rd camera) and with grading, it blends quite ok with the big cameras in 'daylight'.

yeah am making the list before deciding.. so far there is only one in my list which is SH-50...RX100 would have been in, but out of budget...LX7 i saw some bad cons for my taste in dpreview...so that's out as well....so still looking at alternatives..

checked with a few shops.. looks like the sh-50 is still not available in sg yet? anyone know release date?

Unlikely to be before US. Expected availability in US: B&H: 21 March 2013. Amazon: 31 Mar 2013.

Try checking with Olympus Imaging Singapore?

called them, they don't have any updates as of now....lx7 back in..1080p at 60fps is gr8, but need to check some videos first..

still sh-50 not out yet..have finally decided to give up on that as it says 2 months on amazon..which would be a camcorder with good stabilization around the same budget of less than 600.does the same 5 or 3 axis stabilization applies to camcorders also??
