Anyone here care to share their experience in the a/m models? All of them cost in the region $220-?? but which do you recommend for a starter?

the 5 of course!. the 5 is good for someone (beginner or otherwise) who wants a small, lightweight yet flexible camera.

get a 5 + 50mm lens, and you have an easily-pocketable camera to bring with you anyway.

personally though, i found the 5 too small to be comfortable, so i switched to a 7...
