Hi guys, do u have problems with your pics looking desaturated and washed out when you upload them to facebook?
I'm using LR2 on a mac.
I've checked my color profile in the exported pics, they are already in srgb, so not sure what is the prob here.

Here's a sample of the screencap i did. The facebook version is on the left. The right is what i get when viewed with preview or lightroom

yes, mine seems desaturated too...

i believe it somehow reduce the IQ of the pic therefore have some image problem ;)

"Flickr enhances images, while Facebook degrades them"

So it's a facebook issue? Nothing we can do about it?
It's really frustrating!

does it help to saturate the colour a bit
and see if it turns out right on FB?

you right click on the picture, see the file size

then you will understand why this is the case.

also, not sure what color space facebook uses, some of my pictures are looking different in terms of color palette in facebook when using firefox, but it is fine when i use safari.

I have the same problem. Initially i thought its due to colourspace of fb. I then tried exporting in lr2 at srgb, uploads look worse.

I think one way is to use sightly heavier saturation. Lol.

Remember, facebook is primarily a social networking site, not a photography sharing site.

Lol, why does it bother ya so much?

The photos people upload on facebook don't exactly need to be 'picture-perfect' anyway :bsmilie:

I wonder what the Singapore photographer's FB group have to say, especially those who participate in their monthly challenge...

FB is for social networking, you want to showcase your photos, get a proper site to host your images.

Well, if the colours of everyone's photos are gonna be muted, it shouldn't affect judging, ya? :bsmilie:

Your pictures don't get uploaded directly to fb. They go through a convertor first before it gets displayed on the site. So it's probably at that stage that your colour's changed. Not much you can do about it except of course write in to the admin team. I think they're quite receptive and might actually do something about it eg how they changed an album picture limit from 60 to lots more now.

Sure you can do something about it. Just buy the damn company, and tell their engineers to fix it. ;p

What do you expect from a free social networking site? Tech support?

Check the uploaded files again when you see them in browser. Do they still contain the colour space information? I just checked and it's gone for my images. Now it's up to the browser to "guess" what colour space is used. Some guess better, some don't. The result is obvious.
