Are you serious? What did we take? I think we took a lot. You took a lot also. CS has created a space for all of us to talk, yak, whine, learn, make friends, join shoot etc etc. It's one of the better online community for photographers. My question to you, you absolutely did not gain anything from being part of CS, you took nothing? Well, if you annswer no, than, why ask the question in the first place, but if you answer yes, why are you here?

The point is ... some of these atdmt points to servers that do not resolve. Hence the slowdown in page loadings.

A little bit slowing down, if CS can make a few bucks so that the server keeps running, why are you complaining? Nothing in this world is free.

Think before you speak. CS is a commercial monster? How? Are the founders getting rich from CS? Actually, if they want to, they would have embarked on the route Hardwarezone took. The Buy-Sell forum is free for member to post, to make money, does CS take a cut of the sale? The answer is no. Do we see intrusive banners, skyscrapper, pop ups, pop under etc etc, the answer again is NO. We have free storage space, more than most similar forum anywhere. How is CS a commercial monster?

Any on your comment of CS being a free for all community, it was free to you. Still free to you. But server cost money, bandwidth cost money, maintenance of the website cost money. They are not free and who had been paying? Not you and I. So to us is free for all, to the administration it is a money pit. Yet they had maintained it as it is, coming out of pocket, building the community. So, now, if they want to make CS self funding, is that anything wrong?

To your misguided resaoning, it is wrong. But to everyone who has some sense and understanding of cash in and cash out, it is inevitable. Actually, I wwelcome this day, becasue CS can only continue to florish and grow if it can be self funding.

Erh are you sure? Then how come i just did an adware scan of my system and found a atdmt cookie being "prompted" to be removed?

you actually do not have much choice since nothing is free. someone must pay. are you suggesting that the admin of CS pays for all our free posting? We all know how mch ads are there on CS, till now, very little. Where did the funds to run CS comes from?

If you don't want to pay, then some inconvienences are inevitable.

Another misguided soul. Do you know how much does it cost to host a site with the traffic like CS? Other then a few ads here and there, where is the money? Show me the money and I will shut up!

DP is correct. CS is quite free of ads. One of the better sites. I thought CS should have a donation button or fund to help maintain the site. But might not work cos a lot of freeloaders in SG. Not willing to fork out the money to maintain the site they used/loved.

CS admin got some of their money thru ads and the gallery subscribtions. Some MISC funds like t-shirt etc. I remember reading one of the admins saying that they prefer to sell something than getting donations. So members can get something back. Personally, i prefer just to donate. So i can donate any amount i want/like and not bothered with other things. Lazy! lol.

Some forums generate quite a sum of money i guess. They got sponsors, ads, donations etc. But i doubt CS generates lots of money. Just enough to cover its expenses i guess.
