Hi fellow minoltians,

would like to hear your opinion, will it be great to use a close up macro filter (be it hoya or B+W) with this lens. The focusing distance is at 1.8m which is a bit long. I wish to use this lens for macro so that I do not need to bring extra lens out to the field.

Any comments is appreciated. Thanks.

Regards

Hello,

You may want to try 2X converter??it gives me decent close-ups when i'm using my 70-210 f4.never try close-up filters though.....

Minolta lens can use teleconvertor one meh? I thought the rear element protrudes from the lens body one..... so cannot fit teleconvertor. Thinking of using one on the 100-400 APO, Andy can or not? I think teleconvertors are a cool and cheap way to increase range but the f-stop lagi jialat lar....... mine with a 2x would like f/15??

If you want to use close up filters, I would suggest the Canon 500D. The image quality yield will be better :)

How much does a new Canon 500D cost?

You can try kenko or teleplus at cathay.....If you use 2X converters, your working aperture will be so slow that maybe autofocusing will hunt or even cannot focus.but nevermind, use manual focus lah.

Hmm..... that is okie if I am doing portraiture work...... or closeups....... at any rate, I think 1.4x would be good enough lar...... that would make 6.7*1.4 = 9.38, approx. f/11...... so that's quite okie too for me lar......
